From time to time I get asked questions that I simply have no answer. Not that it can not be done, but just really never thought about it. I was conducting a workshop last week, and a user wanted to know, "How do I change my email default text color to something other than black?" After a little checking around, here is the answer. I hope u pick a nice color!

GroupWise stores your e-mail and calendar items on a server. This allows you to read your e-mail and check your calendar from any Internet-enabled computer, anywhere in the world.
To help manage space and keep the GroupWise systems running efficiently, messages are "expired" at regular intervals. In most cases this is 90 days. In other words messages and their attachments older than 90 days are deleted from the servers and lost unless you do something to save them.
With the new Agency names and logos, it is time to update your email signature. If you have never added the logo to your email signature, it is time to do that too. This tip will walk you through how to add the agency logo to your email signature. Now, I must warn you that this signature graphic will only be displayed in GroupWise if you are running GroupWise in html mode. For info about GroupWise html mode, please click here for more info. (Note - this TTnT tip was for GroupWise 6.5, but it still works for GroupWise 7.x)
One more thing, I have resized the two logo linked to below to best fit your email signature block. I would recommend you use them.

I have met a few people that read their e-mail messages right after they arrive, take care of whatever the message requires and then delete the message and they never have more than just a few recent messages in their mailbox. However, if you are not one of those people or are more likely to leave most of your messages in your mailbox until the GroupWise administrators in College Station delete them, then you may have trouble finding an old message that you now need for something. GroupWise provides several ways to help organize and find messages. Some of these tools have been part of GroupWise for years, but some are more recent. The latest version of GroupWise that we are distributing is 7.0.2 HP. If you can't find one of these features in your GroupWise, make sure you have this latest version.
My favorite organization features are:
1 - Using folders: you can set up personal folders to move your mail into so that they are cataloged by subject, date or whatever method you prefer to use. You can also create rules that will move your messages into these folders automatically and each folder will display the number of unread messages in parentheses behind the folder name so it is easy to see if a message arrived and was put into a folder.
2 - Color coding: you can color code your messages by using the category feature. There are several pre-defined categories, but you can also create custom categories in whatever colors you prefer.
3 - Personalizing (Changing the Subject of an Item You've Received): At the top of any message you are reading there is a tab for personalizing. Categories are included in that tab, but you can also add your own "personalized" subject line that will show up on your list of messages to help you better identify messages.
4 - Search: If you have moved your messages to folders, color coded and personalized them and you still can't find the one you are looking for, you can use the search tool (magnifying glass icon) to search by recipient, sender, subject, contents or date. The search tool searches all of the folders so even if you accidentally moved it to the wrong place (or deleted it) the search tool
should be able to locate it.
One of the best things about these tools is that they all work the same in the archive. If you move messages to folders, color them or personalize them and then move them to your archive, either manually or automatically, they will be in the same folder (which will be automatically created if it does not exist in your archive) and they will be colored and personalized. The search tool is also available when you are in your archive.
Like most users, I pretty much use GroupWise 7.x in default mode. Meaning, I don't normally customize the look and feel very much. However, I was looking at Dr. Lippke's mailbox on Wednesday, and he had these cool Group Labels separating his email out by day. I thought to myself, now that is cool.

So, this Tech OPS entry will show you how to transform your email from a plain old list of email sorted by date, from, or subject to a list that is broken up by days of the week using Group Labels.
